I owned a Noblet C for some years, and did find chalumeau intonation issues,
plus a steely tone. It was sold a couple of years ago (for more than I
paid), when I became owner of a wonderful Buffet Prestige C, purchased from
a friend in Santa Fe. It has no intonation issues at all, and plays like a
good Bb. But, of course, it costs a lot more than the Noblet, but I got mine
at a great price. I've played the Patricola Cs and find the intonation
better than a Noblet, but not much. The Buffet student/mid line C (E11,
E12?) is a better bet for decent intonation.

My orchestra is doing the Mendelssohn Reformation Symphony on the next
concert, with lots of C parts.
