A one hour soak seems to be an excessive amount of time to me. I use CLR,
but soak a mouthpiece for three to five minutes and have had no problems with
the mouthpiece turning colors. If the deposits are not bad, I will just
pour the CLR on the mouthpiece and clean it with a mouthpiece brush
immediately. My repair tech does this and he has had no problem. We do rinse the
mouthpiece then was and rinse with soap and warm water. Your problem is probably
that you left it in the vinegar for too long. Maybe it turned green because
you pickled it. Sorry, I could not resist.
