In my opinion, Fobes products are a win-win-win paradigm. The care in
manufacture Mr. Fobes seems to put in his products is unparalleled; they
are, indeed, beautiful to look at. Perhaps more important is the
individual attention Mr. Fobes provides. To wit, my wife had bought a
barrel for me for my R13 Vintage Buffet, but it seemed too tight a fit
to top joint. I made one simple inquiry to Mr. Fobes -- vis his
web-site -- and was/am totally amazed by the response. A high-tech
gentleman, too, Mr. Fobes almost immediately responded from his iPhone.
We discussed the problem I was having, and Mr. Fobes suggested I send
him the barrel, and he would customize a different length -- his
recommendation -- barrel and post it to me. FIVE days later I had the
marvelous barrel in hand. Which brings up the third "win" -- the
intonation seems improved ('specially the throat tones) -- and there is
not a single thing I might say negative about this product. I have it
paired with a Fobes mouthpiece on this horn, and if I ever trade 'nets
-- this combo surely will be kept for the new one. I honestly believe
one could not do better! The Fobes barrel seems to enhance the
almost-oboe sound of this most-narrow bore clarinet!

I have a Fobes barrel each on my Eb Alto and Bb Bass clarinets, as well
as Fobes mouthpieces. As a by the way, I have never met the man
personally; have no financial interest in him or his products; and
reside 3,000 miles (give or take a few) away -- I give this endorsement
solely on MY experience! His email address was:
claroneman@-----.net Several players I know seem to "buy"
improvements in their playing with new ligatures, mouthpieces, or
whatever gizmo might replace (imho) the only real "improver" --
practice! So, I do try my best to not fall into the buy-it group. But,
regardless -- one of his barrels surely won't hurt ;-) !

Best wishes!
