When I was doing postgrad work on Victorian domestic music it came as a shock to discover that at the time Mozart was considered inferior not only to Beethoven but even to Spohr. Incidentally Jennifer have you ever played in, or even listened to, the Spohr Octet and Nonet? When I first played the Nonet I preferred it to the Mozart Quintet, but nowadays...... mind you I still love the Spohr works. By the way if you ever heard Tony play the Mozart concerto you might like it better.

Two things:

The first is that it's important to be honest about what you feel. 'Pretending to feel' leads to emotional death.

The second is that it doesn't work to try to force love, or even attraction, on anyone else. That's particularly true in relationships with people; but I think it's also true in relationships with things.

So, I say you don't have to like the Mozart concerto.

For quite a few years, for various reasons, I didn't like it myself.
