May I echo this sentiment? My full name appears in my email address, and if
I miss off my surname (or even name!) from a post it is a result of
carelessness rather than anything more sinister. I do post in a number of
cruise ship related websites and do not have my real name on display there
for a number of reasons - but then again as Tim says, there is a different
culture there. Academic websites, such as this one, require more openness.

Matthew Lloyd.

That was very well said. Most of us here have used our own names and
identities right from the first. I put my phone number and address on
my website. Many years ago people warned me about using my real name
and address on "the web", but so far, no one has come and taken me
away.

As Tim said, we are discussing topics of serious interest. To hide
behind a pseudonym is to not be taken seriously.
