Not necessarily. In the case of Buffet, their mouthpieces are nothing
special --little more than placeholders in the case -- because they assume
someone who is choosing a professional-level clarinet has already made a
mouthpiece choice. They just throw a student-grade plastic piece in for
completeness of the set.

I was taught to leave the upper of the two ligature screws looser than the
bottom one. Everybody has their personal favorite way of doing things. I
have many different ligatures, inverted and not, single screw, fabric,
plastic, etc. As long as they hold the reed securely in place they are all
acceptable. Some may articulate a little cleaner, some, especially the
fabric ones, sound a little less bright, but they are all good.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!

James the mouthpiece choice had more to do with how even the hold on the
reed is after putting the ligature on the reed and mouthpiece. I was told
if you have two screws on either side of the reed then you have to make sure
both screws are even in tension on the reed. I am not too sure and have
never tried that set up with screwing the ligature and reed on the
mouthpiece. I just have that leather band and that has worked fine for me.

I agree the explanation I was given is a bit strange. I would think that it
would be better to go with the mouthpiece that came with the clarinet.
