Subj: [kl] Air leakage

Hello all.

I have trouble with air leakage out the corners of my mouth when my
embouchure gets tired. Does any one have suggestions to remedy this?

It seems like it is the muscles positioned laterally in my upper lip
because my embouchure sort of flattens and stretches when I am tired;
the corners of my mouth spread away from each other. I have been
trying to purse my lips when not playing to see if I can improve
muscle tone. But so far (a couple weeks), it isn't helping much.

Another thing that I am trying is to play out of the corners of my
mouth; put the mouthpiece off-center, first in the left corner, play
until I'm tired then play in the right corner until I'm tired. But I
haven't been doing this long enough to say whether it is helping. I
thought it might strengthen the muscles, so it is easier to keep the
corners of my mouth closed when playing normally.
