I usually wash mouthpieces with soap and water before exchanging for
testing. Of course, this requires having a sink handy and only
sanitizes it. Sterilization requires much more stringent methods such
as autoclaving or UV light treatment. I have never tried putting a
mouthpiece in an autoclave; I don't know how it would hold up and
seems like overkill. Nobody autoclaves their kitchen dishes...
