This has probably already been covered, but ... you are
breathing diaphragmatically, aren't you? If you're breathing
wrong, not only will it limit the length of a phrase, but (I,
at least,) always found it more tiring, overall..

I always found it difficult to play a Van Doren mouthpiece.
They constitently played really stuffy, for me. (I know that
most people like them.) I found Selmer mpcs much easier to
use.

Also, try this:starting with throat F, breath completely out
three times. Correctly fill back up with air. Play the note
for as long as you can hold it. Relax for a few seconds,
breathing normally, and repeat the same procress with E,
then Eb, D, etc. Time each playing, make a note of the
time down to low F. See if this will improve your length of
time of each session.
