I find that I get pain in the tip of my thumb when holding the
register key for bb. One alternative is to use the side key bb, since
it has a better tone than the register-a key bb fingering. There are
the side key and the sliver key Eb fingerings. Some one mentioned a
third Eb fingering that I am not familiar with. It sounds to me like
you mostly need to practice the passage. If you don't get it this
time around, it will come later. I have definitely had problems with
the ab bb transition in the past. The problem crops back up
periodically, mostly when I am tired.
