To correct a few points in this post:

The method, probably yes (or at least almost everyone). But not all use rol=
ling =

(cigarette) papers. Some prefer other materials that are a bit stronger and=
more =

water-resistant, but as thin.

This is basically correct but over simplified. Since the keys are hinged fr=
om =

the side and come down on the tone hole at an angle, the pressure at the fr=
ont =

and back of the pad is never exactly the same except at one point, where th=
e =

force closing the key has to be identical too. So it is rarely exactly the =
same =

at the front and back. This is part of good pad installing deals with.

Sometimes (and some use different tools for heating). But many times, for o=
ne of =

many possible reasons, this method will not be able to achieve good=A0seali=
ng of =

the pad. A pad can have uneven=A0pressure for a different reason completely.

>> Attaching the slip of paper to a matchstick keeps your fingers away

The papers are generally not used while heating a=A0key over the flame. Sim=
ply =

heating the key over the flame and closing it (like when playing) almost ne=
ver =

results in a key pad that is aligned correctly and seals like it should. So=
most =

of the time you need both hands while the key is heating/hot. Checking with=
a =

feeler (paper) while the glue is soft and the pad can move is mostly useles=
s =

anyway.
