I should be clear: I'm not saying that you shouldn't write helpful expressive indications in music -- and that's in ANY sort of music. If you're specific, such indications give the performer a lever on your intentions.

But I find that the unadorned 'espressivo' often encourages the unthinking performer to go on being unthinking:-(
