From: Rachel Roessel <gsurosey@-----.com> Subj: [kl] Hello everybody Date: Tue, 17 Aug 2010 15:43:54 -0400
I have a few extra minutes, so I'll take them to introduce myself briefly.
My name is Rachel Roessel. I'm 29 (will be 30 in September), and I live in =
Rochester, NY. I've been playing clarinet since 1989. I got my BA in Music =
(2005) after I dropped out of an MBA program that made me miserable. I got =
my BS =
in Accounting (2003). So, I spent 7 years in (state) school and didn't get =
a =
whole more out of it than $52,000+ in debt. I'm on SSD for bipolar disorder=
and =
playing is one of the few things that keeps me sane.
I currently play in a community orchestra (Brighton) and sub in another =
(Greece). I've been referred to as 'insane' in rehearsal due to my versatil=
ity. =
I can play any orchestral woodwind with the exception of a bassoon.=A0I nor=
mally =
play Clarinet II in orchestra unless there are utility parts (eefer/bass, =
woohoo!). If so, I play those and our 3rd player plays 2nd by herself=A0(if=
no =
utility parts, we double 2nd). That means we get to play musical chairs sin=
ce I =
sit between them usually. If I play utility, we switch so she and the princ=
ipal =
can hear each other. I've also played some alto sax with them and subbed fo=
r our =
Oboe II player (but I do that on clarinet since I haven't played oboe in a =
couple years and don't currently own one).
My boyfriend (percussionist who I met in orchestra) says my closet is reall=
y a =
music store since I have 7 instruments. music stand, and music all in there=
. =
Speaking of music store, I could easily spend $1,000 on stuff right now. I =
need =
a couple new cases (bass and either a new triple case for the other 3 or fi=
x the =
one I have since I can't seem to find a triple anywhere), my sax and bass n=
eed =
adjustments, and I'm sure I could find other stuff, too.
OK, that got a little long. I tend to do that sometimes. My Internet time i=
s =
limited since I can only get online at the library right now (time limit of=
an =
hour logged in a day), so I squish as much in as I can.
Glad to be here. I've only been lurking a short time, but I've seen a lot o=
f =
good information.
Rachel
