Curves in the bore like the neck, flatten the pitch - it's been well studied
for brass instruments. Hard to quantify, though!

Before doing more measurements it's sensible to see what has already been
done! Please see my long email about Vanderveen's book. The half-clarinet
measurement would be interesting, though. Measure the bore diameter as well
to do the end correction.

Oh and you need to measure temperature inside the bore. And until the
clarinet warms up, there will be a big temperature gradient inside it.

How important is not to have curves in the bore, like a bass clarinet neck?
If I =

understand, bows are a bit similar to slightly enlaging the bore at that
point. =

At least on the saxophone bow, not sure about bass clarinet neck. Because

than that, my bass clarinet is a straight cylidnrical bore and I can check
both =

just the top joint (middle C fingering) or both joints without bell (low Db =

fingering) so it is just a closed pipe with no "last tone hole". I have a =

thermometer, even a funny one that looks like a pig :)=A0 I can also measur=
e =

anything with half a soprano clarinet. I just need to know what to measure
:-)
