But the clarinet still behaves like a closed cylinder; it overblows a
12th through out its range. The flare in the lower joint should only
affect the effective length and that less so than the more extreme
flare of the bell.

It isn't like we have a conical bored didjeridoo that overblows a 10th.

The half clarinet idea is cool.
