Leon was a terrific guy...and a terrific clarinet player. The jazz program is "famous" because of his work. He will be
missed.

Subject: [kl] Death of Leon Breeden

When David Breeden, the late principal clarinet with the SF Symphony, died five years ago, I went to his memorial
service. While there I chatted with a few people who had known David particularly well, and one of them told me that
David's father, Leon Breeden would be unlikely to live much longer, not that he was ill, but because of the grief that
he sustained with David's death.

Leon Breeden was a clarinetist and the director of jazz studies at the University of North Texas (which is where David
obtained his undergraduate degree, I believe), and in Saturday's NY Times, Leon's death at the age of 88 was reported.
