Dear Tony, Dear Ken

Ever since I started to play clarinet I met only nice people when I visited musical events like weekends, play-ins etc. I thought it a gift to be in the musical society.

The first deception was on the occasion of Mozart's 250th birthday, January 26, 2006. Dan Leeson was highly esteemed by most listers, and a few of us had planned a joke already prepared to a great deal, when Dan came suddenly up with the discovery of cases full of gifts Mozart would have received. As it is most unlikely these would suddenly turn up in the US, Dan had written a (great!) book on forging the original manuscript of K622, and the moment Dan would have found these, I expressed my doubts about the "find".

Dan's reaction was far below mark. He even called me a morone, if my memory is correct, without giving arguments. I didn't react, but later on I read similar reactions to other people, that gave great contributions to this list, but then quit. The joke of course, though intensely prepared -- I still have a composition for three bassethorns at hands, made especially for Dan, but composed by "Wolfgang Gottlieb Mozart" (Amadeaus, translated into German, is Gottlieb) -- failed. What a pity! Such a good joke!

With Tony I also had the experience of a sudden and unexpected burst of anger, I do not remember the details anymore, thay are not important. But in Tony's case, unlike Dan's -- you can still use the excuse of stress musicians are experiencing.

I am not going to accuse anyone of negatavism, all people on this list had to me very valuable contributions. And both Tony and Dan have taught me things (probably unawarely) I still am grateful of. But I think the great strength of this list was and still is the acceptance of one another. It is not use to call names, but to enter seriously into debates. Thus:

Ken, Tony, quit quarelling make music, and be happy!

Rien
