David was my teacher at California State University, Long Beach in the
late 70's. I don't know who he studied with, but I do know that he was
a studio player in the LA area for many years. He played with the
California Chamber Symphony,Pasadena Chamber Orchestra. He also did
some playing with New York City Opera, Amati Quartet, Philadelpha
Quartet, American Ballet, and LA Phil.

I do know that he retired from playing a number of years ago and moved
to the Northwest. If you want more information about him, contact John
Barcelona (flute) at CSULB. I know John was still there a few years ago.

David Atkins was a wonderful player and an amazing teacher! He was one
of those lesser know clarinet players who everyone should know about.
