Subj: [kl] William O Smith Five Pieces for Clarinet Alone

Hello

I'm studying the William O Smith Five Pieces and an analysis of the first piece reveals an elegant economy of motifs, wondered if anyone else noticed or has more ideas?

The first three bars are exactly translated into bars 27, 28, 29, though in different octaves. Bar 5 exactly imitates 14 and 20, again in different octaves, 22 and 25 are similar, as is 30. Also of interest are the accents on the lower notes leading to a very jazzy effect. That is just the first piece, I would welcome comment and analysis of the rest of the piece to enhance my knowledge and performance.

Play nice please? I'm just trying to learn more about this piece?

Kind regards
