recommendations, liking other music by the same composer, browsing in
the store and finding something that looks interesting.

random wander through both contemporary and earier music - I was once
accused of specializing in obscure music because I didn't know a
standard piece, but had picked something lesser-known by the same
composer for my audition piece

yes :-( I'm not a professional musician, so music purchases are just
for fun, not because I actually need any of it
