well... if I could add something.....

The oboe concerto was written in 1705 and the opera tomerlano (which is qustionable if it was for clarinets or for small trumpets of some kind) was written sometime in the 1720's I think. so it's POSSIBLE that at the time of the writing of the oboe concerto Handel actually didn't have access to clarinets or at least clarinet players.

But I don't want to get too involved in this.

I bought the Handel Oboe concerto no.3 (in G minor) transcribed for Bb and I think if Handel had access to clarinet players then he would have written the concerto for clarinet in the first place. I would highly recommend this concerto to you if you are interested. (especially if you like baroque music)
