Subj: [kl] Joplin Rags for Woodwind Quintet
Date: Sun, 11 Jul 2010 18:21:04 -0400

My wife is now playing oboe in a woodwind quintet so I have taken three Joplin rags that I transcribed for a reed quintet at the Hartt School of Music and adapted them for woodwind quintet. My focus was to vary the instrumentation so that everyone in the group has something fun to play and to create a lot of variety of instrumental combinations. The three rags are Sugar Cane (A ragtime two step), The Ragtime Dance (a two step with stop time), and The Cascades. If you would like to see and hear these, you could visit my website at http://cooppress.net. Your feedback about whether you think I have achieved my goal is appreciated.
