Maybe it was a subliminal metaphor but certainly not a conscious one. Original stuff on YouTube can be accompanied by all kinds of candid explanatory material without fear of getting nailed by someone who claims to own it, so I gave the date and the location of the videos I shot. Had I uploaded a video shot by someone else, certainly a copyrighted one, I would have made sure that the identifying material was camouflaged sufficiently so as not to lead back to me.

What I find hard to fathom is why people upload commercial stuff all the time just for the fun of it. The only ego involvement they get from doing it is the satisfaction of making it available to others. I would judge the risk to be too great for the satisfaction received. As for performing some copyrighted piece on YouTube, I could probably be talked into doing that, but only with appropriate safeguards like those suggested in my previous post.
