The text in the subject line is the beginning of a headline that ends with
the statement, "Apply at Philharmonic." It is on the first page of today's
edition of the NY Times (July 6, 2010).

The piece (written by Daniel Waiken who, I believe, is a clarinet player)
speaks about the high number of unfilled seats at major U.S. orchestras,
including the principle clarinet and bass clarinet of the NY Philharmonic.

While many of the reasons behind this state of jobs needed to be filled are
understandable, one reason may be interpreted as a management decision to
keep costs down; i.e., management wants to keep the seat open because it is
cheaper to use a temporary player who will not get either the salary or the
benefits of a formal orchestral hire.
