Hi

If you wanted an example of how relaxed I am in performance now, you will get a laugh out of this one. Towards the end of the Vaughan Williams folksongs, in the last one, number six, it starts alright, then rapidly goes downhill as my mother in law, whose best accompanying days are slightly behind her, skipped a couple of lines and even my best improvisation couldn't rectify the situation. So, as you'll see, I calmly stop the performance, suggest we try that again and explain the pianist skipped a line. Everyone got a huge laugh out of it, and even more chuckles at the end of the piece with its whimsical ending. Granted, this is a Sunday Afternoon gathering at a local church, but the performance is indicative of my relaxed and often humorous approach to making beautiful music.

And if I may plug my recital on July 4th, yes, I am aware of the significance, therefore I'm presenting an All American Program, some delightful Old American Songs for Clarinet and organ arr. James Sclater, Copland and Bernstein Sonatas, and Australian premiere of Sargon's Deep Ellum Nights, first recorded by Jonathan Cohler. Interspersed here and there will be marches by Sousa and co. on the organ by Greg Hartay-Szabo, my accompanist being the legendary Mitchell Leigh. I will be uploading the concert on Youtube, and will post the links when they come to hand. This concert is also going to be huge fun and I hope you'll take a peek if you have a spare minute or two.

July 4th 1pm, Albert St Uniting Church, Brisbane City, opposite King George Square

Kind regards
