Not necessarily so. The internet and the associated ease of transfer of
recorded material means that the business of _selling recordings_ is
likely to be increasingly less worthwhile in future, although the cost
of _making_ recordings seems to also be decreasing. One effect may be
shifting the motivation for making recordings, from a situation where
the record is the product, to one where the record is an _advert_ for
live performances.
