Sheesh. Never fails that when I write about someone else's mistakes, I make
a whopper of my own.
I gave this incorrect citation for my quotation:
>>C. F. Ramuz, "Souvenirs sur Igor Stravinsky," 1917, translated by Dollie
>>Pierre Chareau, as reprinted in Minna Lederman, ed., "Stravinsky in the
>>Theatre," New York: DaCapo, 1975, p. 124. This Da Capo edition is a
>>reprint of Dance Index-Ballet Caravan, 1949.>>
Oops. Here is the correct citation:
C. F. Ramuz, "Souvenirs sur Igor Stravinsky," written in 1917, published in
Mermod, Switzerland, 1946. Translated by Dollie Pierre Chareau. Reprinted
in Minna Lederman, ed., "Stravinsky in the Theatre," New York: DaCapo, 1975,
p. 124. The Da Capo edition of "Stravinsky in the Theatre" is a reprint of
New York: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1949.
Dance Index-Ballet Caravan is the 1949 copyright owner, not the publisher.
It's unclear from the Da Capo footnote whether the Ramuz memoir was
published in 1917 or whether the 1946 Swiss edition was the first
publication. It's also unclear from the footnote whether the Chareau
translation into English was for the Swiss edition of Ramuz or for the 1949
Farrar, Straus & Giroux edition.
Sorry about that!
