I am reading the memoirs of Walt Levinsky. It was published in 2004 and Walt died shortly thereafter. His wife died after being a widow for a few years.

The book's title is the subject of this note. It's published by Cadence Jazz Books in Redwood, NY, email cjb@-----.

It is a particularly enjoyable read, and in my case made especially interesting because Walt and I were both born and raised in Paterson, NJ. He was a few years older than me, though we almost never met. He was a very important musical figure for Paterson, and I was just a shmuck who thought that if I played everything fast, I could win the world championship or something.

His major teacher was Frank Stachow who I knew in the Clarinet Society, but I did not know that he had been Walt's teacher at the time.
