Then it must be Hill Song Number 2. I once ask Percy which of his writings
for winds was his favorite, and he said that it was the Hill Song, though he
did not specify which one.

The recording of Hill Song No. 1 I own is a Grainger's original
orchestration, which is very unusual =96 two piccolos, six oboes, six
english horns, six bassoons and a double bassoon. I have also heard a
version for pianos, and a version for orchestra, but I think it loses
something in the translation - the sound of all those double reeds is
just amazing! Grainger did several versions of both pieces - not sure
which one(s) include alto clarinet.
