Dan,

I have heard those tales. Unfortunately, my C clarinet is a different color
(rosewood) than most people's. Besides, the size difference makes it pretty
obvious that it isn't a Bb, and definitely not an A. And since I don't make
my living playing, it doesn't bother me a bit to close up shop and move on.
There comes a point in life where the aggravation just isn't worth it. I
reached that point many years back!
