On my A clarinet it only happens on the A. It is a common problem. I
think it has been called a grunt.

I have heard that adjusting the register tube length can solve this
problem but introduce other problems such as intonation.

I never have any problems like this on my Bb clarinet. Is this something to do with A clarinets and I need to adjust something to get rid of that?
