Dan,=20
This morning I read an obit for Jerry Adler in my local rag which stated
that Jerry (not Larry) died on March 22 and that Larry, the older
brother, died on August 7th 2001 in UK.=20
A quick check with Britannia online (which also informs us that by age
10, Larry was the youngest cantor in Baltimore) confirms the latter.
Also, Larry did play a bit of jazz - or at least he recorded with some
fine jazz musicians - most notably four tracks with Django Reinhardt and
Stuff Smith in 1938. (Larry doesn't add much IMO, but they're better
than just collectors items).

The harmonica virtuoso of my youth was Jerry Adler, who, among other
solos,=20
was heard on the soundtrack of "Shane," "High Noon," "Mary Poppins" and=20
other films. His brother, Larry Adler, died on Mar. 13, and Jerry died
on=20
Mar. 22. Jerry way 90 and Larry was 91.

Several concerti were written for Larry, who played only classical
music,=20
but Jerry played a lot of jazz.

Larry got into deep doodie during the McCarthy era (may his name be
blotted=20
out). Jerry worked steadily on cruise ships. He made a good living for=20
decades. Larry struggled during the Communist witch hunt.
