Clarinetist Michael Norsworthy in Concert on February 27 at University
of Southern Mississippi and at Boston Conservatory on March 1

Clarinetist Michael Norsworthy will be featured in two upcoming
performances – Saturday, February 27 – 7:00 PM at Bennett Auditorium on
the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and
Monday, March 1 – 8:00 PM at Seully Hall of Boston Conservatory, 8 The
Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts.

The February 27 recital will be part of the University’s Clarinet Day
2010. Mr. Norsworthy will perform unaccompanied clarinet works by
Schumann, Grisey, Gerald Finzi, Elliott Carter and Eric Mandat. This
event is free and open to the public. For more information, call

present Master Classes as part of his visit to the University of
Southern Mississippi.

The March 1 program is part of the Conservatory’s Robert Schumann
Festival and will highlight chamber works for two instruments by
Schumann and his wife Clara. Other performers will include members of
The Boston Conservatory faculty; Lynn Chang, Irina Muresanu, Andrew
Mark, Jungja Kim, Janice Weber, YaFei Chuang, Jonathan Bass and Max
Levinson. The March 1 event is also free and open to the public. For

A dedicated and persuasive champion of the music of our own time,
Michael Norsworthy has given premieres of over 80 works in collaboration
with composers Harrison Birtwistle, Elliott Carter, Chris Dench, Pozzi
Escot, Brian Ferneyhough, Michael Finnissy, Lukas Foss, Hans Werner
Henze, Magnus Lindberg, Ralph Shapey and Marc Anthony Turnage, among others.

As soloist, Michael Norsworthy has performed an extensive repertoire of
concerti, ranging from Mozart to Ferneyhough, with the Aspen
Contemporary Ensemble, Callithumpian Consort, NEC Contemporary Ensemble,
Pottstown Symphony, Soria Chamber Players, Southern Illinois Symphony
and Symphony Pro Musica, while audiences have heard his numerous
recitals in New York , Boston, Cambridge, Chicago and St. Louis.
Conductors he has worked with include Boulez, DePriest, Knussen, Levine,
Muti, Robertson, Ozawa, Tilson Thomas and many others. Michael
Norsworthy plays on Buffet Clarinets and mouthpieces by Kalmen Opperman.
