Sorry, I should have explained in more detail. If you "apply perhaps three =
tiny dabs of shellac equally spaced to hold it in place" then you will lose=
the=A0advantage of using shellac.=0A=0AWhat you need to do is this:=0A- He=
at the metal ring while it is off the barrel (or joint). =0A- Coat the insi=
de with shellac. Stick shellac is most comfortable IMO but definitely don't=
use liquid shellac mixed with alcohol.=0A- Make sure to put enough=A0so af=
ter you put the=A0ring on the barrel the entire space between is filled wit=
h shellac.=0A- While the barrel=A0is still hot and the shellac is=A0liquid =
put the ring back on the barrel. Clean if there is any extra.=0A=0AThe adva=
ntage is that not only the=A0entire space=A0is filled, the filler is exactl=
y the correct amount in every area. You can't guarantee these two=A0(IMO im=
portant) aspects by shrinking the ring or using peper/plastic/nylon shim. S=
hellac is also excellent for support. In addition this is relatively easy a=
nd fast to do and also=A0redo in the (rare) case that a player moves to an =
area with=A0weather so significantly different that it's necessary. I haven=
't found any disadvantage to this method.=0A=0A=0A=0A----- Original Message=

inet Barrel=0A=0AFirst, my sincere thanks to all who have taken the time to=
share their expertise and respond to my dilemma!=A0 I think I will, if nec=
essary, integrate the wonderful suggestions presented.=A0 To wit, I liberal=
ly coated the barrel with (Muncy Winds) bore oil, with ring on, and left it=
to allow time to have effect.=A0 This eve, I will no doubt check how much =
oil was absorbed, and if warranted apply a second coat.=A0 Rehearsing this =
eve, I can take/use the stock R13 Buffet barrel.=A0 I will most likely wait=
three days -- and, if the ring is still readily removable -- will at that =
time apply perhaps three tiny dabs of shellac equally spaced to hold it in =
place.=A0 Thank you again, to all!=0A=A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =

the problems.=0A> =0A> To give credit, I first learned this from repairer =
