My first C clarinet was a Lyons, and I used it exclusively for orchestra. =
I bought =0D
it in 1995 ($100 US) and played it until 2001, when I could afford a wood C=
=0D
clarinet. And it didn't sound terrible either. In fact, to my ears it sou=
nds very =0D
much like a Buffet Tosca clarinet when it has a good reed set-up. I did fi=
nd I had =0D
to make all of my own reeds (cut them down) for it because there were no co=
mmercial =0D
reeds that really fit the mouthpiece that comes with it (which is what I us=
ed). I =0D
did get in touch with Graham Lyons, and enlisted his help in how to get the=
best =0D
out of it. I still have it. My 7-year-old granddaughter plays it now and =
does =0D
quite well on it. She likes playing the duets in the "A Tune A Day" and "R=
ubank" =0D
method books with me. I especially "love" repairing it. Everything snaps =
on and =0D
off, including the neoprene pads.=0D
