I know what both of you mean. <g> The full system clarinets have a
different ... I don't know exactly how to describe it. A different timbre,
maybe, because of the extra pads, holes, etc. I love the sound. It's the
closest I've found that a Bb "sounds like" an A. I would describe it as
richer and darker, but Dan would assault me with used reeds. <g>

The Eb is far down on my "like" schedule. I played it in university wind
ensemble -- along with the bass -- for a few months, when the regular Eb
player (who was also a dancer) went flying off the stage into the pit during
a rehearsal for West Side Story. I did well enough, changing from one mpc
to the other, but not my greatest hour. I'm sure you're a great player,
Kevin, but almost every time I hear the Eb played, it's like someone is
scratching with fingernails on a blackboard.

(I just realized, we're raising a whole generation who won't understand that
analogy! They don't have blackboards in schools any more; at least, not
around here. Now, it's erasable whiteboards! <Sigh.?
