Dave, I fully agree with your comment about the stick-on labels. Very
annoying. I've developed my own solution. I use a jeweler's file and
slightly notch the side with my own numbering scheme. I peel the sticker
off immediately. I found the sharpie mark to fade over time.

Well, it may just be marketing. "Look, we have a significantly better reed,
and we think that this is easily worth the cost of a box of good cane reeds,
so here it is."

Or it may be higher manufacturing cost. I can say, from inspection, that the
texturing on the vamp and tip is quite different than the prior Legere
reeds. Also, while the back on the prior reeds is smooth, this one is
textured. Not sure whether there are different materials, a different
molding process, or different final finishing.

What I would wish they would do is dispense with the stick-on labels.
Invariably, the ligature pushes them around, and they come off. So, what
model and strength reed is this? Don't know. So, you resort to a Sharpie -
for something I think they should have figured out by now.
