Deborah Shaw asked,
>What reeds do you all use for alto clarinet?>

I'm an amateur, but fwiw: My Eb alto is a 1979 Selmer (grenadilla) with a
Selmer HS* mouthpiece. I prefer Vandoren V-16 alto saxophone reeds
(although I don't like those on alto sax!), because they enable me to play
with a greater dynamic range and a tone quality that's more even across the
whole range than I was able to get with alto clarinet reeds. This clarinet
and mouthpiece combination works well for me anyway, because I don't hear
the muffled tone in the lower clarion that can be a problem on some altos.
With the alto sax reeds, the tone quality sounds similar to a clarinet in A
and that's what I like to hear.
