Subj: [kl] Who was that clarinetist?

On Jan. 12, there was a piece in the NY Times about a mystery clarinetist
with the NY Phil. The link is
http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/01/12/mystery-at-the-philharmonic-who-was-that-clarinetist/,
but if you have trouble getting the piece, it seems that Burt Hara,
clarinetist with the Minnesota orchestra was invited to play the set,
perhaps to hear in a more relaxed environment than in an audition.

He played the Rachmaninoff 2nd symphony (which, by the way, has a tough bass
clarinet part in A in the bass clef, and I played that on my A bass once),
and was given a solo bow for his apparently splendid work in the big second
movement solo.

When the critic for the NY Times called and asked the identity of the
player, the request was refused.

Mysteries maybe??
