Subject: [kl] Schumann 3rd Symphony

Is there an urtext edition available of the Schumann symphonies?

There is a critical Breitkopf edition for sale which is being used by =
professional orchestras. This replaces the older Breitkopf publication =
which has been reprinted by Edwin F. Kalmus and the Kalmus reprint was =
then used to be scanned to the Orchestra Musicians CDROM Library. These =
same parts Leipzig: Breitkopf & H=C3=A4rtel, n.d.(ca.1890), plate =
Orch.B. 138/139 are posted on IMSLP.
Kalmus/CDROM/ IMSLP parts contain whatever mistakes or changes were made =
by the original engravers.

Parts for sale. Available from any good music dealer.

New Edition by Joachim Draheim
Preface in English
Short Critical Commentary (mostly in tabular form) in German
The new edition of the "Rhenish" Symphony largely follows the first =
edition of the score, which Schumann supervised but which is not devoid =
of errors. Of course, Draheim also examined the autograph and the first =
edition of the parts. Although Schumann inspected the latter edition as =
well, it was apparently based on a different source. It goes without =
saying that the new Breitkopf edition respects the findings contained in =
the Schumann Complete Edition (1995). All editorial decisions - =
especially those in which Draheim arrives at results that differ from =
previous editions - are clearly documented in the Textual =
