In this month's Clarinet magazine, there's an article about the Leblanc
France "Ambiance" clarinet. It was a model squeezed between the Opus and
the Concerto, apparently for sale for about a year.
I understood that the Concerto was the Opus without the extra Eb key - the
bodies were the same. In any event, lots of fine clarinetists play these
French Leblancs.
Kessler & Sons Music in Las Vegas has acquired a pile of the "Ambiance"
clarinets, and is selling them for $1,695. (See
http://www.kesslermusic.com/SelmerLeblanc/leblanc_ambiance.htm.) This is
about $1K less than the street price of a new Buffet R-13 - could be a
*very* good deal indeed. I don't need another clarinet, but at this price
I'm tempted.
I've purchased several saxophone mouthpieces from the Kessler store.
They're good people.
