I've been playing on a Pomarico Ruby and a Selmer #2 (both crystal) for a
number of years. They play almost identically. However, I spent several
months trying out many mouthpieces to find them. Don't believe the ads that
claim they play the same. They don't. There are large variations even in the
same styles - especially in the Pomarico brand.

I'm guessing that that only way to know the tip opening of your mouthpiece
is to measure it. The published # or style means nothing in my experience.

The trial programs I've used most recently is Woodwind/Brasswind. You have
to call and talk to a 'woodwind specialist' to set things up. They'll let
you try 4 mouthpieces for about 2 weeks.

Subject: [kl] Pomarico crystal mouthpiece

Hello. Does anyone know the tip opening measurement of my old Pomarico
#2 crystal Bb clarinet mouthpiece? They have a new nomenclature ---
Emerald, Nigun, Ruby, Saphire, Diamond --- and I'd like to know which of
those is closest to my #2 in tip opening. Nothing on their web site about
the old numbering system. Thanks for any help.
