I can make a case for A natural, I think. An A natural (concert G
natural) in bar 427 would serve as the missing 5th of the underlying
concert C Maj7 chord in the orchestra (or in my case, piano--all I
have is the piano reduction). Thus, it would bear the same relation
to the underlying chord in bar 427 that the F# (concert E) does to the
concert A Maj7 chord in bar 426.

I don't know if that's what Copland had in mind--it's just a
guess--but I thought I'd throw that out there and see what people
thought.
