Hi Rosheen,
This subject has been discussed at enormous length. Go to the
archives (if you don't know how, ask). I guarantee you'll find what
you're looking for. Just FYI, when I was hired to teach at the
Peabody Preparatory (that's the community music school of a major
conservatory in the US), I went to a store which specialized in sheet
music and I spent a couple of HOURS looking through every method they
stocked (which was at least 15 different ones!). I STRONGLY recommend
you do this. If you are serious about being a good teacher, you owe
it to yourself and your future students.
