Rosheen,
Like so many, I started with Rubank as a young student many years ago. As a=
n adult returnee and needing to go back to basics for a while, my teacher r=
elied on Clarence Hendrickson's method books (Books One and Two, published =
by Belwin, then Alfred). Book One is similar to Rubank. (I never got to Rub=
ank II in those long-ago days.)
Hendrickson's Book Two covers major and minor keys up to four sharps and fl=
ats. Each lesson consists of the major/minor scales, thirds and arpeggios a=
s well as etudes and duets. It's a great book. After that it's on to Baerma=
nn.
Best of Luck,
Chuck Strum

Subject: [kl] Books for starting students?
Hi All,
This is my first post to the list, though I have been
reading for a while. Thank you all so much for providing this gold mine
of information!
I am after reccomendations of books to start a
learner on, both for adult learners and children, as I am just
beginning to teach privately. Which ones are your favourites and why?
Thanks for your help and wisdom :)
Rosheen
