Clarinetist Michael Norsworthy in Concert with Boston Public Quartet on
October 29 in Weston, Massachusetts

Clarinetist Michael Norsworthy will be featured in a special concert
with the Boston Public Quartet on Thursday, October 29 – 7:30 PM at the
Rivers School Conservatory, 333 Winter Street in Weston, Massachusetts.

The program will include the Brahms Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Opus
115, and the Mendelssohn String Quartet in A minor, Opus 13.

This event is free and open to the public. A reception with the artists

Boston Public Quartet is a group of professional musicians/educators
committed equally to performing and teaching through a long-term
residency at the underserved Chittick Elementary in Mattapan. Going on
its third year in residence, the Quartet has created a new model for
music education and performance, bringing together musicians, teachers
and families through the shared intention of student success. Music
becomes not just a mere lesson or concert, but a means of transformation
and connection within the larger community. At the Chittick, the Quartet
provides the school’s 300 students with their only access to music
education through presentations, workshops, violin, viola and cello
lessons and chamber music. The Boston Public Quartet, which empowers
musicians employed in social change, relies solely on grants and

A dedicated and persuasive champion of the music of our own time,
Michael Norsworthy has given premieres of over 80 works in collaboration
with composers Harrison Birtwistle, Elliott Carter, Chris Dench, Pozzi
Escot, Brian Ferneyhough, Michael Finnissy, Lukas Foss, Hans Werner
Henze, Magnus Lindberg, Ralph Shapey and Marc Anthony Turnage, among others.

As soloist, Michael Norsworthy has performed an extensive repertoire of
concerti, ranging from Mozart to Ferneyhough, with the Aspen
Contemporary Ensemble, Callithumpian Consort, NEC Contemporary Ensemble,
Pottstown Symphony, Soria Chamber Players, Southern Illinois Symphony
and Symphony Pro Musica, while audiences have heard his numerous
recitals in New York , Boston, Cambridge, Chicago and St. Louis.
Conductors he has worked with include Boulez, DePriest, Knussen, Levine,
Muti, Robertson, Ozawa, Tilson Thomas and many others. Michael
Norsworthy plays on Buffet Clarinets and mouthpieces by Kalmen Opperman.
