Hofstra University Museum Presents The American Chamber Ensemble on
October 25 at Hofstra Library in Hempstead, New York

Hofstra University Museum presents Feel the Beat, Voices Sweet, Watch
Their Feet!, featuring The American Chamber Ensemble on Sunday, October
25 at 3 PM at Rochelle and Irwin A. Lowenfeld Conference and Exhibition
Hall on the 10th Floor of Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library on the South
Campus of Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.

The program is presented in conjunction with the current exhibition
America’s Irreplaceable Dance Treasures: The First 100, and features
selections from American composers, such as Aaron Copland and Leonard
Bernstein and includes a musical composition written specifically for
this occasion by Hofstra Professor Emeritus of Music Herbert Deutsch.

Performers include members of the American Chamber Ensemble and guest
clarinetist, Stanley Drucker. This program is co-directed by Associate
Professor of Music David Fryling, Adjunct Associate Professor of Music
and ACE member Marilyn Sherman Lehman, and the Dance Program Faculty.

Tickets for this event are $5 general public; $ 3 senior citizen and
PEIR members (with HofstraCard); Hofstra students, faculty, staff with
current HofstraCard, or Hofstra University Museum members admitted free.

The American Chamber Ensemble explores the great chamber music
literature for clarinet and piano in combination with strings, woodwinds
and voice and presents performances featuring world-class artists. ACE
consists of the finest freelance musicians in the New York area and has
been cited by critics for their superb presentations of chamber
masterworks. Their latest CDs on Elysium are American Clarinet
Treasures, featuring core members of ACE performing works by George
Kleinsinger, Virgil Thomson, Daniel Gregory Mason, Elliott Carter,
Douglas Moore and Gary Schocker, with Guest Artist Stanley Drucker and
The American Chamber Ensemble Plays Peter Schickele, which features five
of this modern master’s most important chamber works.

ACE concerts are assisted with public funds from the New York State
Council on the Arts, a state agency, and private contributions.
