You said you had an e-flat clarinet. If that doesn't appeal to ten year =
olds
then nothing will!!!!

My question about the nature of "cool" was a genuine one by the way.
Remember I'm a fuddy duddy Englishman.....

Thanks for the Cool ideas so far.=A0 The level of sophistication of some =
of
the replies leads me to believe that some of you are even less =
acquainted
with 10-year-olds than I am!=A0 I can also use help in interpreting =
thing on a
beginning level.=A0 For example how do I explain why I have an A =
clarinet?=A0 I
could say it makes certain keys easier but it will be a while before I
introduce the concept of key to them.=A0 I guess I'll have to stick to =
tone
color -- even a 10-year-old can understand that the A is darker, =
right?=A0 (OK
OK OK, I'll answer that myself and save you from having to -- Only a
mentally deficient 10-year-old would think of using a term like "dark".)

Someone also=A0 thought I was being overly clarinet-chauvinistic.=A0 =
Well it IS
a clarinet class so it's just a bit of cheering for the home team.=A0
Personally, I vacillate between whether the clarinet or the bass =
clarinet is
THE best instrument.

Someone reminded me offlist about glissandos.=A0 That should be easy and =
fun
to demonstrate.
