A member of klarinet just asked me a question that I have been asked many
times, namely, am I related to saxophonist Cecil Leeson.

As far as I know, there is no connection, though I was informed that his
family came from Lithuania just as mine did. A little research has turned up
the assertion that, at his death, Leeson's collection of papers was left to
Ball State University which, in turn, gave them (along with his saxophone
collection) to the Musical Instrument Museum
in Vermillion, SD. And if that collection contains anything about his
heritage, I might take a ride there and see what they have that could
clarify the possibility of a genealogical connection.

I read somewhere that Leeson had a son name Tom or Tod. But beyond this I
know nothing of the man. There is a YouTube performance of his playing a
quintet for saxophone and string quintet. Nice playing.

Does anyone on this list have a suggestion as to where I might poke to find
out some details of Cecil Leeson's genealogy?? There is plenty about his
life as a saxophonist, but nothing about where he came from.
