Ken, Manny's was typical of just about everybody on 48th street. Linx and
Long always talked about selling their clarinet mouthpieces because they
gave a dark, dark sound.

That kind of description has wended its way into the clarinet playing world
like a cancer, because it presents a problem to young students that cannot
be solved.
